The GF-16 Crane supersedes the GF-14 and is the ultimate in "big" modular, rideable and remote crane systems. It is designed and engineered incorporating the latest technology and is the result of many years experience in the crane business . The result is a state of the art crane system which addresses the demands of the crane operator when it comes to safety, transport, ease of assembly and in-shot stability but also gives the DP an amazing range of choice to create that dream shot.

As with all GFM products, the GF-16 components are treated with a patented, surface hardening process (Hart Coat ®)resulting in a scratch proof and non-flake finish. This process increases the equipments durability and lifespan giving it that "new look" even after intensive use on set.

Thrashed looking gear and touch up paint jobs are things of the past.Combined with a modern aerodynamic design and the high grade.pan & tilt bearing systems, the GF-16 allows for unmatched ease of movement and remains steady at all times.
With the GF-16, all respective rigging and parallelogram rods are identical, further improving and providing a logical and easy to understand assembly procedure.
As confirmation of GFM′s high manufacturing and safety standards, the TÜV Süddeutschland have safety type tested and approved the GF-16 Crane System according to European guidelines for the scope of application under EC directives especially EC directive 98 / 37 / EC. This certification is based on state-of-the-art-technology.

The GF-16 Base Dolly is equipped with independent, double ended steering providing excellent manoeuvrability in a studio or on location.Each of the 4 foam filled tires has a dedicated, push-down brake ensuring immediate securing of the base on tailgates or when moving around on set.

Removable levelling jacks are available for use on uneven terrain, providing a secure means to level the base. The position of the levelling jacks increases the footprint of the base and doesn′t conflict with the track wheel connection making it possible to lay 100cm / 39" track when the jacks are mounted.

The 4x4 track wheels provide smooth tracking shots and an unparalleled, ease of movement under heavy payloads.Two utensil trays can be attached to the sides of the mounting column providing neat storage of camera and remote head accessories.

A major highlight of the GF-16 is the adjustable mounting column. It allows assembly of the arm at a low, comfortable pivot height of 158cm / 5′ 2". When assembled the complete arm can be elevated 40cm / 18" per hand crank or motor driven with a battery operated screwdriver.

This feature not only improves safety and handling as it reduces the need for using ladders etc during assembly and breakdown, it also gives the operator more options to adapt the crane to the location or set. Transportation of the crane is more comfortable as the assembled base, column and pivot section is only 192cm / 6′ 3" high when retracted.

The modular, 2-part counterweight bucket system is lightweight and can be split for use where less than 80% of the total counterweight is required. The lower bucket section has a high and low mounting position.
